Ana Maria de Jesus Ribeiro di Garibaldi more succinctly known as Anita Garibaldi was born in Brazil but became the wife and comrade-in-arms of Giuseppe Garibaldi. Wed in Montevideo in March 1842, the famous couple parented 4 children and Anita was pregnant with a 5th when she died of malaria in 1849.
